Boyadjian to step into MD role at Macallan

Edrington’s managing director of Asia Pacific and India, Igor Boyadjian, has been named managing director of The Macallan Scotch whisky.

Igor Boyadjian will succeed Scott McCroskie as managing director of The Macallan

On 1 April, Boyadjian will take over from Scott McCroskie, who has been promoted to CEO of The Macallan’s parent company Edrington following the retirement of Ian Curle.

Boyadjian joined Edrington in 2017 to head up its travel retail arm. However, his association with the firm dates back more than 10 years through Edrington’s FIX joint venture.

Previously, Boyadjian worked at Moët-Hennessy and Allied Domecq, and in partnerships with Beam Suntory. With his new role, Boyadjian joins the executive team at Edrington.

“I am delighted to welcome Igor as the new managing director of The Macallan,” said McCroskie. “He brings valuable international experience to the role, having lived and worked in South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

“Igor’s strong commercial background, entrepreneurial mindset and deep understanding of prestige brands will ensure that The Macallan will continue to grow and prosper.”

Boyadjian added: “I am looking forward to my role in continuing to drive innovation in the brand that will inspire future generations of consumers, while staying true to our deep rooted heritage and traditions.”

Towards the end of last year, The Macallan introduced its first global campaign following the opening of its new £140 million (US$184m) distillery.
