Benromach has added two aged vintages to its Heritage collection

Benromach Heritage 1977 and Benromach Heritage 1972 have both been matured in single refill American hogsheads.

Keith Cruickshank, Benromach distillery manager, said: “Through careful monitoring and regular sampling throughout the maturation process, these remarkable releases have been aged to over 40 years each.

“Both golden amber single malts are brimming with fruity flavours and subtle oak notes. The release of these vintage expressions is an outstanding start to an exciting year for Benromach.”

Bottled at 49.6% abv, Benromach Heritage 1977 is said to have flavours of apple pie, poached pear and hints of ginger, with floral notes and apricot jam.

The cask was emptied on 8 October 2018, creating just 122 bottles that are now available to purchase worldwide for an RRP of £1,250 (US$1,633).

Benromach 1972 has been bottled at 55.7% abv, and is described as having notes of vanilla custard, honey, tropical fruits, oak and menthol.

Only 75 bottles were created when cask 4471 was decanted on 11 December last year, priced at RRP £1,500 (US$1,960) each.

Each whisky is presented in a decanter-style bottle with a copper foil embossed label, encased in a dark oak wooden box.
