Portobello Road taps into Tequila boom with new masterclass
Portobello Road Gin and Brown-Forman-owned Herradura Tequila have partnered to create a Tequila-ageing experience in London.

The Agave Experience will take place at The Distillery on London’s Portobello Road, which is also home to educational gin workshop The Ginstitute.
Each session will guide guests through the spirits of Mexico, exploring the history and production of Tequila, mezcal and lesser-known agave spirits such as raicilla, bacanora and sotol.
Gemma Moser of Tequila Herradura UK, said: “Tequila Herradura is excited to partner with The Ginstitute and The Agave Sessions.
“We are extremely passionate about educating consumers on the history, heritage and craftsmanship of Tequila, so partnering with The Ginstitute and The Agave Sessions feels like a natural fit.”
The experience will take place every Saturday from 2 February 2019 and will see guests undertake an in-depth tasting that will explain the different classifications of agave spirits.
Guests will then have the chance to age their own Tequila, receiving a 700ml bottle of Herradura Plata to take away and rest at home in a small barrel made from charred American white oak.

The premium Tequila market has grown significantly in recent years. No longer seen as just a spirit to shot, it has been adopted by the more discerning drinkers as a sophisticated sipper or cocktail ingredient.
“Creating a Tequila-focussed sequel to The Ginstitute was a natural step for us and partnering with Herradura allowed us to develop an in-depth, informative and entertaining agave experience with one of Mexico’s finest distilleries”.
Tickets are available to buy now at an introductory price of £100, which includes a two-hour interactive masterclass, four agave cocktails, tastings, a selection of tacos; a 700ml bottle of Herradura Plata Tequila and a barrel.
