Kingsbarns launches core single malt whisky

Kingsbarns Distillery in Fife has released its flagship single malt, made using locally grown barley.

Dream to Dram is the first commercially available Scotch whisky from Kingsbarns Distillery

Kingsbarns Dream to Dram is a no-age-statement Lowland whisky distilled exclusively from barley grown in East Fife. The distillery’s whisky came of age in March 2018 after maturing for the minimum period of three years.

Dream to Dram has been “primarily” aged in first-fill Bourbon casks sourced from Heaven Hill Distillery, while 10% of the liquid has been matured in shaved, toasted and re-charred wine casks.

Kingsbarns uses a three to five-day fermentation period. The liquid then moves to the wash still for an eight-hour run, followed by a “slow running spirit still with high cut points”.

“Dream to Dram is a wonderful single malt that I think perfectly captures the Lowland style and the character of our East Neuk home in Fife,” said William Wemyss, owner of Kingsbarns Distillery.

“So much hard work, skill and dedication has gone into crafting our whisky over the past three years so my thanks and congratulations go to everyone at Kingsbarns.”

Dream to Dram follows the launch of the inaugural Kingsbarns’ Founders’ Reserve whisky, the first in an annual series of limited edition single malts bottled for members of Kingbarns’ Founders’ Club.

Kingsbarns Distillery opened on St Andrew’s Day in 2014 following the three-year restoration of a semi-derelict B-listed farm steading in collaboration with former professional golf caddy Douglas Clement.

Dream to Dram is bottled at 46% abv and has an RRP of £44.95 (US$59).
