Co-founded by Sukhinder Singh, co-founder of retailer The Whisky Exchange, Elixir Distillers submitted the planning application to Argyll and Bute Council on 21 November 2018, and it was validated on 6 December.
The application includes plans to build a distillery on the Scottish island, complete with maltings, a vaulted maturation warehouse, visitor centre with shop, restaurant, meeting facilities and a tasting lodge.
It also requests permission to feature a car park, sewage treatment plant and pumping station, new junction, access roads, car parking, tankfarms, a retention pond, reservoir and to allow sea water intake.
The distillery will be built on a plot of land located to the south east of Farkin Cottage near Port Ellen.
Plans for the distillery were first revealed in April last year.
