Jura unveils new Prestige Range of whiskies

Island single malt distillery Jura has revealed its new Prestige Range of rare and aged whiskies, starting with a 1988 vintage and a 28-year-old permanent expression.

Jura 1988 has been matured for 30 years

Rare Vintage Jura 1988 is a 30-year-old malt whisky that has been aged in small batch Bourbon barrels before being finished in 20-year-old tawny Port pipes.

Bottled at a cask strength of 53.5% abv, the whisky is described as having notes of honey, vanilla, lemon cake, baked apple and a touch of peat.

Created without caramel colouring or chill filtration, only 1,406 bottles are available to purchase globally at an RRP of £650 (US$822).

Jura 28 is a global travel retail-exclusive

Jura 28 Year Old will be available annually in limited quantities in global travel retail, priced at RRP £399 (US$505).

This expression was matured in freshly emptied American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels before being finished in amoroso Sherry butts.

Gregg Glass, whisky maker and blender, said: “As an island, Jura has been dedicated to producing the finest whiskies by generations past and present and we are in an exceptionally privileged position to have a range of rare and aged stocks.

“Both our new expressions are a fitting way to celebrate and share our island’s incredible heritage of whisky making with our growing, global community.”
