Eden Mill celebrates St Andrew’s Day with single malt
Fife-based distillery Eden Mill released a limited edition single malt Scotch whisky to mark St Andrew’s Day last week (30 November).
Eden Mill has launched a limited edition Scotch whisky to mark St Andrew’s Day
Only 3,200 bottles of the Eden Mill 2018 St Andrew’s single malt whisky were made available, with fewer than 2,000 allocated to the UK market, priced at RRP £79 (US$100) per 700ml. It is available from specialist retailers and via the Eden Mill website.
The whisky has been matured in a selection of casks, including oloroso Sherry hogsheads, ex-Bourbon first-fill American barrels and ex-Pedro Ximénez Sherry octave barrels.
Bottled at 46.5% abv, the expression is said to have aromas of vanilla, candied barley sugar and hazelnut, leading to peach, plum, fruitcake and oaky-vanilla on the palate.
Paul Miller, co-founder of Eden Mill, said: “This release is the first in an annual series, which will build over the coming years and we thought it was only appropriate to launch the 2018 single malt on St Andrew’s Day.”
Earlier this year, the inaugural bottle of single malt Scotch whisky from Eden Mill has sold for £7,100 (US$9,630) at auction, setting a new world record for the first release from a distillery.
