Tamworth Distilling updates aquavit recipe

New Hampshire’s Tamworth Distilling has created an “improved” recipe for its Skiklubben Aquavit, which will be crafted with a whiskey base.

Skiklubben Aquavit is bottled at 40% abv

The expression has been created by Steven Grasse, Tamworth Distilling owner and creator of the Hendrick’s Gin and Sailor Jerry rum brands.

The distillery has put a “scratch-made spin” on the expression, which is traditionally made with dill and caraway.

The updated recipe is crafted with a whiskey base (a blend of Bourbon, barley and wheat whiskey), along with a “seasonal mix” of winter vegetables and spices, including parsnip, carrot, clove, anise, and cardamom.

The expression is recommended served in classic cocktails such as a Manhattan or a Swedish Mule.

Tamworth Distilling has updated the American-made aquavit recipe to bring “the Nordic spirit closer to its mezcal or gin tipping point moment”.

The aquavit is inspired by the Nansen Ski Club, which was founded in 1872. The Nansen Ski Club is the oldest operating ski club in the US.

Tamworth Distilling will be making its Skiklubben Aquavit available nationally for the first time at Warehouse Wine & Spirits.
