In his new role, Marwick will lead financial strategy and management and will have responsibility for IT and property matters.

Marwick, who trained as an accountant in Bristol, previously worked at Field & Lawn for three years as finance director. He also joined the board at Hibernian Football Club and served as a non-executive director on the board of The Hibernian Community Foundation and Bioscientifica.

Since 2009, the Scotch Whisky Experience has undergone £8 million (US$10.3m) worth of renovations across all departments. This includes the incorporation of the Diageo Claive Vidiz Scotch Whisky Collection – 3,384 historic bottles of whisky within a marble and glass vault.

“I am thrilled to now be working with The Scotch Whisky Experience,” said Marwick.

“It’s easy to be inspired here, working with such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable team to promote Scotch whisky and Scotland to visitors to the capital.

“I have joined at a particularly exciting time as the company is undertaking a significant project to create new dining and tasting areas at the Johnstone Terrace facing of the building, which will open in 2019.

“This continues a long-standing policy of investing for the future, growing the business and developing the team.”

Earlier this year, The Scotch Whisky Experience become the first visitor attraction in Edinburgh to offer whisky tours in British and American Sign Language.
