Mangrove UK records highest sales volume

Drinks distribution company Mangrove UK has sold its highest volume of spirits and liqueurs in a single month.

Core products such as Black Cow Vodka have boosted Mangrove’s sales in October

The firm delivered a total of 22,000 nine-litre cases in October 2018 to customers across the UK – a 108% increase on the same period last year.

Mangrove UK attributed its “record success” to activity in the trade around Day of the Day, which boosted sales of Tequila and mezcal; sales of core products; core products such as Black Cow Vodka; the recent additions to its Scotch whisky portfolio including BenRiach, Glenglassaugh and Glendronach; and “strong demand” for Aluna coconut rum and Don Q rum.

Managing director Nick Gillett said: “The hard work of the sales team and the ongoing success of the independent operator as well as good national operators gives us a good platform on which to build.

“This record-breaking month is testament to Mangrove UK’s commitment to providing strong results for our drinks brands and partners and we plan to continue this growth in future months.

“That said, margins remain under pressure from the general weakness of sterling, the cost of borrowing and other cost increases that have to date been absorbed by us.

“The continued trend towards premiumisation means our portfolio is well placed to benefit, and we are always looking to make the right brand additions to ensure we remain relevant.”
