Bowmore 1997 is travel retail-exclusive

Beam Suntory has teamed up with World Duty Free to release just 198 bottles of a limited edition 20-year-old single cask Bowmore in travel retail.

Only 198 bottles of Bowmore 1997 have been created

Exclusive to World Duty Free’s World of Whiskies stores, Bowmore 1997 will be available to purchase in Heathrow Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5 from 7 December.

The whisky has spent 20 years maturing in a single Sherry cask and is said to have aromas of malty biscuit, dried flowers and a touch of white pepper, alongside toffee, roasted coffee and vanilla sponge cake.

On the palate, the whisky is described as having flavours of sweet peat, burnt wood, barbecue ash, lemon zest, vanilla, dried wood and a smoky finish, with herbal and floral notes.

Bowmore 1997 is botted at 51.2% abv and priced at RRP £295 (US$375) per 700ml bottle.

Ed Stening, global marketing director of Beam Suntory Global Travel Retail, said: “As a brand, Bowmore is growing fast in travel retail and is very popular with travellers looking to take home a slice of this history and character.

“We are very excited to be working with Dufry [owner of World Duty Free], a long-term supporter of Bowmore, to offer this unique and brilliant single cask expression to their discerning, passionate customers.”

Earlier this month, Bowmore bottled a 52-year-old whisky from 1965, “one of its rarest” whiskies to date.

In October, the brand launched a 19-year-old single malt exclusively through online retailer Amazon.
