Bob Dylan adds 10-year-old to Heaven’s Door range
By Nicola CarruthersSinger-songwriter Bob Dylan has released a new limited edition 10-year-old Tennessee Bourbon under his American whiskey range Heaven’s Door.
Heaven’s Door’s 10-year-old Tennessee Bourbon is priced at US$129.99In April this year, Dylan launched the Heaven’s Door range in collaboration with Angel’s Envy Bourbon founder Marc Bushala.
Heaven’s Door 10 Year Tennessee Straight Bourbon is matured using charcoal columns made from Tennessee sugar maple trees – a method known as the ‘Lincoln County Process’.
The whiskey is described as having an aroma of “fresh baked bread and nougat” on the nose. The palate has “semi-sweet flavours of grilled pineapple and candied walnuts” followed by notes of cooked peaches and steeped tobacco on the finish.
Similar to Heaven’s Door’s inaugural range, the bottle design of the 10-year-old features iron gate sculptures created by Dylan at his metalworking shop, Black Buffalo Ironworks.
The new Bourbon also comes with a reprinted lyric sheet, featuring words to Dylan’s songs Maggie’s Farm and Subterranean Homesick Blues.
The expression joins Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Double Barrel Whiskey and Straight Rye Whiskey in the Heaven’s Door range.
“We are passionate about challenging whiskey convention through unique barrel finishing, wood experimentation, and blending,” says Ryan Perry, head of whiskey development at Heaven’s Door.
“At 100 proof and with a low rye mash bill, this whiskey is perfectly balanced and rich in character.
“After spending 10 long, hot summers in a Tennessee rick house, this Bourbon was so perfect that we felt any tinkering would have been a disservice.”
Heaven’s Door 10 Year Tennessee Straight Bourbon is available from select retailers in California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Texas, South Carolina and Washington. It is also available to buy online at Heaven’s Door, with the exception of Alabama, Kentucky, South Dakota and Utah, for US$129.99.
In August this year, Bourbon producer Heaven Hill filed a lawsuit against Heaven’s Door for trademark infringement.
