Beaufort Bar launches ‘theatrical’ cocktail menu
The Beaufort Bar at London’s The Savoy hopes to differentiate itself from the hotel’s famous American Bar with a new menu celebrating its theatrical history.
The new menu at The Beaufort Bar is separated into three section, entitled Music, Magic and Drama
The menu, entitled Music, Magic & Drama, has been inspired by the three founders of the The Savoy Theatre: dramatist WS Gilbert, composer Arthur Sullivan and hotelier Richard D’Oyly Carte.
The drinks list aims to distinguish the Beaufort Bar from the American Bar at the luxury London hotel by “elevating the hotel bar experience” with its signature cocktail selection, range of Champagnes and sparkling wines and its in-depth whisky range.
Created by assistant bars manager Joe Harper and head bartender Elon Soddu, the menu is separated into three sections.
The first, called Music, aims to evoke the “bubbly, sociable and expectant mood felt at the start of a night out”. Music includes drinks such as Heard It On The Grapevine, made from Cîroc Vodka, aloe vera, Martini Ambrato vermouth, grape cordial and Rathfinny Blanc de Blancs.
The second section, called Magic, uses “interesting and often mystifying techniques” in the construction of its drinks, which includes the Light Bulb Moments – made from Star Of Bombay Gin, rose and strawberry kombucha, Martini Bitter, Champagne cordial and Electric Bitters.
Finally, the Drama section of the menu is all about “dark, atmospheric drinks that take guests late into the evening”. Evoking the bar’s theatrical heritage, drinks in this section include: Only The Finest, which mixes Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Campari, caramelised sesame and peanuts, Pedro Ximenez Sherry and Cocchi Vermouth Di Torino; and The Dramatist, made from Jack Daniel’s Savoy Single Barrel, vanilla syrup, Artemis cold brewed coffee, Mr Black’s Coffee Amaro and Louis Roederer Champagne.
