Old Pulteney curates new range for global travel retail
Maritime malt Old Pulteney has returned to age statements in travel retail with the launch of a new line exclusive to the channel.
Unveiled at the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference this week, the range consists of a 10 Year Old, a 2006 Vintage and a 16 Year Old.
The launch follows Old Pulteney’s brand overhaul that was revealed in August this year, and features new packaging in line with the wider range.
Old Pulteney 10 Years Old (40% abv, £40/US$52) is positioned as an entry point into the collection and has been matured in second-fill ex-Bourbon barrels.
The 2006 Vintage is the only expression retained from Old Pulteney’s previous travel retail range. It has been aged in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels and bottled at 46% abv, with an RRP of £50 (US$65).
Old Pulteney 16 Years Old (46% abv, £80/US$104) has first been matured in ex-Bourbon barrels before being further aged in oloroso Sherry casks.
“This range is a clear and confident statement of our commitment to build quality, premium brands in travel retail and duty free,” said James Bateman, global travel retail director at brand owner International Beverage.
“The beautifully detailed packaging and introduction of an age statement for each expression clearly redefines what is now a very strong brand offer for the channel, remaining true to Old Pulteney’s history, distinctive maritime provenance and proven judgement as one of the world’s great malt whiskies.”
