Marriott and Barker to retire from Cellar Trends
By Nicola CarruthersUK drinks distributor Cellar Trends is preparing to bid farewell to its co-founder, David Marriott, and director of sales and marketing, Terry Barker, who will both retire next year.
Terry Barker will retire from Cellar Trends in 2019David Marriott founded Cellar Trends in 1999 with Martin Watts while Barker joined the firm in 2000.
Geoff Watts, son of Martin Watts, will take the helm as managing director and David Marriott’s son John Marriott will become operations and personnel director.
Katie Warren will be promoted to the role of director of marketing in 2019, responsible for the firm’s communications strategy and the brands it represents.
Martin Watts will take on the role of executive chairman and will continue to represent the company on the management committee of Amber Beverage Group, which holds a 70% stake in Cellar Trends.
“Never has the description ‘legends in their own lifetime’ been more justified,” said Geoff Watts.
“When Cellar Trends was founded a mere 20 years ago, no one could anticipate the growth and success that the company has seen, and David and Terry have been crucial to this.
“Whilst we know they will be missed, we are excited for the new phase of Cellar Trends and the long-term security we have in place, following the strategic partnership with Amber Beverage Group.”
Cellar Trends is currently on the look out for a director of sales.
