Construction begins on Californian craft distillery

American spirits producer Portuguese Bend has broken ground on its new distillery and tasting room in downtown Long Beach, California.

The Portuguese Bend Distillery will include an on-site tasting room and The Willmore Yards Eatery

Once operational, the grain-to-glass distillery will produce its California Gin, as well as vodka and rum. Portuguese Bend also plans to lay down spirit for maturation to become Bourbon and single malt American whiskey.

In a post on its Facebook page, the Californian distillery said: “Phase one of the construction process has begun. A lot of blood sweat and tears to get things to this point and could not be more excited to break ground. A huge thanks to all the folks behind the scenes making things happen.”

Once completed, the site will include the distillery, a tasting room and The Willmore Yards Eatery, which will feature floor-to-ceiling windows allowing diners to look out across the distillery.

The on-site tasting room is described as an ‘intimate introduction to the brand’s spirits’. It will also feature a bar serving innovative cocktails created using the distillery’s portfolio.
