Amico’s Bar and Ketel One grow Edible Garden
Diageo-owned vodka brand Ketel One and Amico’s Bar in Essex have created an Edible Garden, which they hope will contain 500 plant species by 2020.
Ketel One and Amico’s Bar hope to fill the garden with 500 plant species by 2020
The garden will grow rare ingredients all year round, including an array of unusual plants and herbs that will be used as garnishes for a collection of bespoke Ketel One cocktails.
The cocktail menu, created by Amico’s Bar owner and founder, Dan Dove, will be presented in the style of a gardener’s notebook and will change on a monthly basis.
The garden is currently home to 120 different plant species, such as red komatsuna, curled chervil, lemon gem tagetes, bulls blood beet and red garnet amaranth.
Cocktails made using ingredients from the garden include the Red Rubin Basil, a sweet and nutty combination that uses homemade pesto and red komatsuna alongside Ketel One Vodka.
David Beatty, Europe brand ambassador for Ketel One Vodka, said: “The Amico’s Bar and Ketel One Vodka Edible Garden is a unique and exciting proposition that is enabling us to grow some of the most rare and unique plants in the world, and explore the delicious possibilities of how can they be incorporated into modern cocktails.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with Dan Dove and the Amico’s Bar family to bring the Edible Garden to life and to create a cocktail menu that will showcase the creativity and forward-thinking of innovative bartenders and Ketel One Vodka.”
