Corsair capacity to ‘quantum leap’ with new distillery

American spirits producer Corsair Distillery will invest US$11.1 million to open its third site in Nashville.

Corsair Distillery produces ‘craft’ spirits

Corsair will build a 117,000-square-foot facility in The Nations neighbourhood in Nashville, enabling it to expand production capacity and warehousing for whiskey. The site will create 52 new jobs.

The company was founded in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 2008. In 2010, the majority of its operations were moved to Nashville.

Corsair currently has two sites in Nashville and one in Kentucky. The second Nashville facility opened in 2016 and also serves as the company’s headquarters.

The new site will allow Corsair to bring the majority of its operations under one roof.

Corsair Distillery owner Darek Bell said: “The Corsair Distillery is excited to launch our new Nashville facility. We started in 2008 with only 2,400 square feet, and our new 117,000-square-foot distillery will be a quantum leap for us in terms of quality, capacity and will allow us to make more innovative spirit.

“Our new facility will allow us to consolidate most of our operations under one roof while still keeping our two other Nashville locations operational. We will also have the capacity to make 70 barrels per day and store 60,000 barrels in house.”

Bob Rolfe, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, said: “Tennessee puts a major emphasis on creating a business-friendly environment that not only makes our state a perfect location for new businesses to locate operations, but also makes it the ideal place for existing companies to expand.

“I look forward to seeing Corsair’s continued success in our state and continuing our partnership with this great company.”

Corsair Distillery produces buckwheat whiskey, malt whiskey, gin, red absinthe, flavoured vodka, and spiced rum.
