BenRiach marks 120 years with 20yo whisky

Speyside distillery BenRiach has released a limited edition 20-year-old expression to mark its 120th anniversary.

The new bottling celebrates BenRiach’s 120th anniversary

BenRiach Marsala Hogshead Cask No. 10299 was distilled 100 years after the distillery doors opened in 1898.

The commemorative cask was selected from Warehouse 13, the distillery’s oldest dunnage warehouse. The expression has been maturing for 20 years.

It is is described as having nectarine, cherry and orange candy on the nose, while the palate has “spiced fruit and candied grape” followed by a orange, raisin and hazelnut chocolate finish.

BenRiach Cask No. 10299 is bottled at cask strength with an abv of 53.4%. It is limited to 290 bottles.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, BenRiach global brand ambassador Stewart Buchanan hosted lunch for distillery works part and present in the on-site floor maltings of the site.

“Cask No. 10299 which I saw laid down 20 years ago celebrates the multifaceted, fruit-laden style for which BenRiach is renowned and unlocks a cocktail of fruit sweetness,” said Buchanan.

“Celebrating 120 years of unconventional distilling, we are proud to release 290 bottles of our anniversary expression matured in a Marsala hogshead, ageing slowly in Warehouse 13 amongst our eclectic cask collection.”

All bottles are signed by master blender Rachel Barrie, and available to buy from Thursday 6 September at the BenRiach Distillery shop.
