Actor Idris Elba to open London bar
Luther star Idris Elba has become the latest celebrity to step into the on-trade, with plans to open an intimate cocktail bar in London next month.
Luther and The Wire actor Idris Elba will open The Parrot bar in early October
The English actor, along with identical twins Lee and Nicky Caulfield, will open 60-seater bar and live music venue The Parrot within The Waldorf Hilton in Covent Garden.
Visitors to The Parrot bar “can expect a whole host of A-list surprises” including a hidden cocktail menu, regular secret shows and an exclusive guest list.
Takings cues from the tropical home of the parrot, the drinks list will offer cocktails that give customers the “ultimate experience”.
The bar will include the Yamaha London Stage, which will provide entertainment from a house band and talent from the West End.
Small plates of food will also be available, created by The Waldorf’s executive chef, Karl Richardson.
The venue will also feature the “London bar scene’s first chauffeur-driven, branded car” in partnership with Aston Martin.
The Parrot is expected to open in early October 2018.
