William Grant & Sons launches Fistful of Bourbon

Scottish spirits group William Grant & Sons has developed its first in-house American whiskey brand, called Fistful of Bourbon.

Fistful of Bourbon is a blend of five straight Bourbons aged for at least two years

The first ‘from the ground up’ American whiskey release from the company is a blend of five straight Bourbons that have aged for at least two years.

It has been blended by William Grant & Sons’ master blender, Brian Kinsman, and is said to contain five distinct flavour groups – balanced and sweet; green, leafy floral; soft spices and hints of nutmeg; buttery toffee; and cinnamon and liquorice.

William Grant & Sons’ blender Kelsey McKechnie said: “There’s an art and science to blending – and Fistful is a balance of both. Our creative process combined the art of nosing along with our vision for the whiskey and the science of blending different Bourbons to create a unique taste all its own.

“We’re excited to showcase William Grant & Sons’ long-time blending experience by bringing it to the American whiskey scene.”

Bottled at 45% abv, the expression will be available in 750ml and 50ml formats priced at US$24.99 and US$2.99 respectively.

William Grant & Sons’ president and managing director, Americas, Jonathan Yusen, said: “Fistful is a hallmark of William Grant & Sons’ relentless commitment to placing quality at the heart of any new spirit introduction.

“From Glenfiddich’s pioneering position in single malt Scotch, to Hendrick’s leadership role in reinvigorating the gin category, to Monkey Shoulder introducing blended Scotch to a new generation of whisky drinkers, William Grant & Sons has never stopped experimenting and pushing the boundaries.

“With over a century of award-winning whisk(e)y experience, we’re thrilled to bring our liquid expertise to something truly unique in the Bourbon category.”

Fistful of Bourbon will be available in select on- and off-trade retailers throughout Texas.

The launch of Fistful of Bourbon follows William Grant & Sons’ initial foray into American distilling when it purchased Tuthilltown Spirits in 2017.
