Four Pillars and Hernö create Dry Island Gin

Australian distiller Four Pillars has teamed up with Swedish producer Hernö to create a limited edition expression, called Dry Island Gin.

Dry Island Gin celebrates Hernö’s Swedish roots and Four Pillars’ Australian heritage

The London Dry-style gin has been created by Jon Hillgren, Hernö founder and master distiller and Cameron MacKenzie, distiller and co-founder of Four Pillars.

The expression is distilled with juniper, coriander, river mint, roasted wattleseed, strawberry gum, lemon myrtle, meadowsweet and fresh lemons.

Dry Island Gin is inspired by the hot, dry landscape of Australia and the thousands of islands that inhabit Sweden.

The expression is the second product in Four Pillars’ Distiller Series, following the launch of Cousin Vera’s Gin created in collaboration with Madrid-based Santamania Destileria Urbana.

The new bottling is described as “bright and lifted with beautiful citrus notes and a lovely floral cut-grass character”. While the palate is “weighty with a fresh pine forest character”.

It is recommended served in a dry Martini with a lemon twist, or a gin and tonic with a slice of lemon and a sprig of thyme.

The bottle label celebrates the Sweden-based distiller with sky blue and sunshine yellow colours, combined with the Swedish word for ‘island’ Ö.

Dry Island Gin is available to subscribers of the UK-based Craft Gin Club, who will receive a 700ml bottle along with mixers, cocktail ingredients, and foodie treats in their August box.

The expression is also available to buy from the Four Pillars website for an RRP of AU$90.
