One Eight Distilling to ‘significantly increase’ production
By Owen BellwoodSpirits producer One Eight Distilling is planning to expand its Washington distillery and “significantly increase” production capacity.
One Eight Distilling will expand its site in Washington
The distillery, which produces the District Made range of spirits, is working with DCI Architects to raise the roof above its newest still, instal a window behind the tasting room bar and construct a bottling room in the barrel warehouse.
Sandy Wood, co-founder and CEO of One Eight Distilling, said: “After more than a year of planning we are thrilled to be implementing improvements to our production capacity and customer experience that will make One Eight the largest distillery in our nation’s capital.”
The tasting room will close for two weeks in July and will reopen for cocktail service and events.
Tours of the distillery will be suspended from 30 June until the end of September while the renovation work takes place.
The distillery, founded in 2013 by Wood and Alex Laufer, currently produces the District Made Bourbon, vodka and gin expressions, as well as Rock Creek Bourbon and the Untitled Bourbon series of bottlings, which are distributed nationwide by Breakthru Beverage Group.
