Old Pulteney unveils limited edition twin pack

Wick-based Scotch distillery Old Pulteney has released a limited edition twin pack featuring Old Pulteney 21 Year Old and Old Pulteney 1989 Vintage.

The twin pack features Old Pulteney 21 Year Old and Old Pulteney 1989 Vintage

Just 276 packs have been released worldwide. Each is accompanied by a hand-signed certificate from distillery manager Malcolm Waring.

The 21-year-old expression, named World Whisky of the Year in 2012 by Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible, is a “full-bodied” whisky with hints of apple and pear.

The “rich and sweet” palate has “subtle light fruity notes and touches of honey and vanilla, followed by a dry finish”.

Old Pulteney 1989 Vintage pays homage to the brand’s maritime heritage.

The whisky is matured in hand-selected American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, which previously held a peated malt.

On the nose, there are hints of spice, green apples and wood smoke. The palate is “rich and dark with subtle spices” and has a “long-lasting” finish.

Vicki Wright, Old Pulteney brand manager, said: “It doesn’t get better than this. The twin pack speaks for itself, with each expression winning a top-respected industry award for their exceptional quality. We are incredibly proud of these exquisite bottles and hope other passionate whisky drinkers share our enthusiasm about this special collector’s release.”

The twin pack is available in the UK from selected whisky specialists at an RRP of £600 (US$795).

In September last year, Old Pulteney expanded its core range with a 25-year-old expression, at the same time as launching the limited edition 1983 Vintage
