English spirits producer Greensand Ridge Distillery has released a British cask-aged rum and barrel-aged gin.

Greensand Ridge has released a cask-aged rum and gin

Located in Shipbourne, Kent, the distillery has produced a gold rum that has been distilled from “surplus” molasses and matured in ex-Buffalo Trace barrels.

The rum is said to have flavours of honeycomb, roast cobnuts, raisins and oak flavours on the palate.

The distillery has also created a barrel-aged gin, which has been left to finish in rye whiskey casks for 10 months.

Greensand Ridge Wealden Rum and Greensand Ridge Rye Cask Gin are both bottled at 40% abv, and are available to purchase online via greensanddistillery.com, directly from the distillery or through fine food outlets and retailers.

The rum has an RRP of £36 per 500ml while the gin has an RRP of £39.95 per 500ml. The bottles will be available to trade for £22.50 plus VAT (rum) and £24.75 plus VAT (gin).

Will Edge, founder and distiller, said: “Because we have control of the entire process from fermentation, distillation, cask ageing, blending and bottling, we have created a beautifully smooth spirit, which is a classic rum but with a honey-like delicacy, which we associate with the aromas of the Weald [the area surrounding the distillery where its ingredients are sourced].”
