Darnley’s Gin unveils new Cottage Series

Darnley’s Gin has released the first expression in its limited edition Cottage Series, called Very Berry.

Only 2,100 bottles of Darnley’s Gin Very Berry have been created

This is the first product to be released from the brand’s new Scottish distillery, which opened in June last year, and follows the launch of three core gins.

The recipe was inspired by the countryside that surrounds the Darnley’s Gin cottage, and is also the inspiration for the name of the series.

Darnley’s Gin Very Berry is described as having aromas of sugar kelp, raspberry and hibiscus, leading to a “tart and bitter” palate up front that develops into fruits from elderberries and sloes, and finished with a “sweet and aromatic” flavour.

Scott Gowans, distiller, said: “Inspiration for Very Berry came from the countryside of the East Neuk of Fife, home to Darnley’s Distillery.

“I selected the signature botanicals of sloe berry, rosehip and elderberry, which all grow wild around the distillery cottage, and sugar kelp which is farmed off the nearby coastline.

“The overall taste is floral and fruity, giving a different taste profile to the others in the Darnley’s range.”

Only 2,100 bottles of Darnley’s Gin Very Berry have been created with an abv of 41.5%. It is only available in the UK from the distillery, its online shop and through Inverarity Morton for wider distribution, at an RRP of £27.95 (US$36.75) per 500ml bottle.
