Bulleit reveals tattoo-inspired bottle design

Diageo has teamed up with four tattoo artists to create a limited edition series of Bulleit Bourbon bottles.

Each limited edition bottle has been designed by a tattoo artist

Bulleit Bourbon Tattoo Edition is part of Frontier Works, an ongoing series of projects and collaborations with “modern cultural creators”.

Launched for National Tattoo Day (17 July), the series consists of four “unique” tattoo designs on the Bulleit bottle.

The designs mark the first time that the Bulleit bottle has been altered.

Participating artists include Shawn Barber of Los Angeles, Jess Mascetti of New York, Thomas Hooper of Austin, Texas, and Jason Kundell of Portland, Oregon.

Each bottle comes with a scannable QR code featuring an augmented reality experience to bring each design to life digitally.

“I’ve always thought the Bulleit bottle was badass because of its unique shape and iconic design,” said Barber.

“Putting my own unique spin on it was a fun challenge because I didn’t want to mess with the style too much, but did want to share what LA means to me through my art. Bulleit gave me a lot of creative liberty and I’m proud of how it turned out.”

Bulleit Bourbon Tattoo Edition has an RRP of US$24.99, with each bottle design available in the artist’s respective state from August. Select bottles will be available across the US.

Ed Bello, brand director for Bulleit, said: “These artists are some of the most talented people I’ve ever met.

“It’s an honour to work with people who share our passion for pushing boundaries on the frontier with such creativity, and to feature their art on our Bulleit Bourbon bottles.”

Diageo is set to begin construction of Bulleit Distilling Co’s US$10 million visitor centre in Kentucky, which is expected to open next year.
