Craig Wallace, master blender, said: “Buchanan’s Select offers a combination of only fine single malts with great character and balance at the beginning, and evolves over caramelised notes to end in a persistent finish, marked by notes of toasted oak, initial aromas of caramel, walnut, light notes of apple and ripe pear.”
Wallace is the man behind some of Diageo’s biggest single malt brands, including Singleton of Dufftown’s 15- and 18-year-old whiskies, and Singleton of Glendullan’s 15- and 18-year-old variants.
He also created Smoky Goat, which blended together three whisky styles for the first bottling in Diageo’s “experimental craft whisky” arm, Whiskey Union.
