Bacardi unveils travel retail-exclusive Aberfeldy 1999

Bacardi Global Travel Retail is set to launch a new Port-cask finished whisky as part of its Exceptional Cask Series – Aberfeldy 1999.

Aberfeldy 1999 has been finished in Port casks for two years

Bacardi has partnered with DFS to offer the travel retail-exclusive initially at DFS Changi Airport. It will be available later in the year at DFS stores in Abu Dhabi airport, Hawaii and North America.

Limited to 3,126 bottles, Aberfeldy 1999 is an 18-year-old small batch single malt finished in Port casks for two years.

The expression has notes of “succulent summer berries and aromatic flowering currant, a hint of cinnamon and grated dark chocolate, with a smooth layer of caramel to finish”.

Aberfledy is the fastest-growing single malt in GTR for the last five years and is the ninth best-selling single malt in Asia pacific travel retail, according to IWSR figures cited by Bacardi.

Thomas Koch, director international key accounts, Bacardi Global Travel Retail, said: “We’re so proud of the accelerating success of Aberfeldy across Asia Pacific, especially in Southeast Asia, and to have DFS choose to take the entire stock of Aberfeldy 1999 is great kudos for a brand first launched in the region less than four years ago.

“We are committed to creating more innovation in aged single malts and we are delighted that DFS shares that understanding.”

Aberfeldy 1999 is available exclusively from DFS Changi Singapore priced at S$180 (US$131.50).
