Wild Turkey releases Master’s Keep Revival

Gruppo Campari-owned Wild Turkey is honouring master distiller Jimmy Russell’s 64-year legacy with the launch of Master’s Keep Revival.

Master’s Keep Revival takes inspiration from the limited edition Wild Turkey Sherry Signature

The Bourbon is the third expression in the Master’s Keep super-premium series. It follows the launch of the 17-year-old Master’s Keep in 2015 and Master’s Keep Decades in 2017.

The new expression is made with Wild Turkey Bourbon aged for 12-15 years and finished in 20-year-old oloroso Sherry casks.

Created by Eddie Russell, who shares the role of master distiller with his father, Jimmy Russell, the expression is inspired by the limited edition Wild Turkey Sherry Signature. The expression was created by Jimmy Russell in the early 2000s and is made with 10-year-old Bourbon finished in oloroso Sherry casks.

For the new edition, Eddie Russell used Sherry casks from Jerez that had held liquid for at least 20 years to provide a “richer flavour with stronger notes of fruit”.

Bottled at 50.5% abv, the expression is said to have hints of cherry pie, raisins, citrus, nuts and a touch of oak on the nose. On the palate, it delivers “soft and creamy hints of spice and sweet tropical fruits, balanced with long and lingering notes of honey, spice and dried apricots”.

“Master’s Keep Revival is a Bourbon I am proud to put my name on,” said Eddie Russell.

“Jimmy and I have our healthy differences in how we drink Bourbon and how we make Bourbon, but I really enjoyed being able to take something my father created decades ago, which was maybe a little ahead of its time, and put my own stamp on it for today’s Bourbon connoisseurs and treasure hunters. I think it will be a nice addition to any collection.”

Limited to 1,600 cases, Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Revival is available at an RRP of US$149 from the Wild Turkey visitor centre in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.
