Tomatin sales soar 25% in 2017
By Melita KielyHighland Scotch whisky distillery Tomatin increased its turnover by 24.6% in 2017, which has been attributed to the brand’s visitor centre and strong performances in the UK, US and Germany.
Tomatin Distillery is located in the Scottish Highlands near InvernessTomatin reported turnover for the year ending 31 December 2017 reached £18 million (US$23.71m), compared to £14.5m (US$19.1m) in 2016.
Furthermore, the company’s financial results showed that profit before tax rose 14% from £3.54m (US$4.66m) in 2016 to £4.03m (US$5.31m) in 2017.
It follows the news earlier this year that turnover for the distillery’s visitor centre topped the £1m mark for the first time since it opened.
Stephen Bremner, managing director, said: “This is a very exciting time for Tomatin. In the past few years we have gained a solid foothold in the international whisky market, particularly with our branded products.
“Following a couple of years of decline, the whisky market is back on its feet and Tomatin is steadily seducing the new wave of whisky drinkers – not just on Scottish soil, but globally.”
