Royal Salute unveils Kew Gardens-inspired bottling

Pernod Ricard-owned blended Scotch whisky brand Royal Salute has unveiled the latest edition in its Flask Collection, which is inspired by Kew Gardens.

Royal Salute 28 Year Old Kew Palace Edition is the result of a collaboration between Sandy Hyslop and Barnabé Fillion

The new expression is the result of a collaboration between Royal Salute’s director of blending, Sandy Hyslop, and perfumer Barnabé Fillion. It has been inspired by Kew Palace and its Kitchen Garden.

The bottling marks the first collaborative blend in the brand’s history and saw Hyslop lay the foundations of the new blend before uniting with Fillion to create a bespoke whisky that embodied the Kitchen Garden of Kew Palace.

Hyslop said: “One of the greatest parts in my role as director of blending for Royal Salute is the opportunity to get creative and push the boundaries of modern blending with new and innovative expressions.

“Working with Barnabé on the Kew Palace Edition was great as we both brought our unique skillsets to embark on what became a true journey of the senses. And what better backdrop for such a feat than the magnificent Kew Palace and its lush kitchen garden?”

On the nose, the new expression is “intensely fruity with rich notes of ripe pear and a hint of aromatic autumnal leaves”, while the taste is “rich, round and perfectly balanced with sweet natural honey flavours”.

The Kew Palace Edition follows the launch of the Royal Salute 30 Year Old Flask Edition last year.

Royal Salute 28 Year Old Kew Palace Edition will be available in a set that includes a bespoke green porcelain flagon and flask, alongside a pouring funnel and wooden serving tray.

Bottled at 40% abv, the new expression carries a recommended retail price of US$790.
