Vinexpo Hong Kong kicks off 20th show

The 20th anniversary Vinexpo Hong Kong show got under way yesterday (29 May), opening its doors to more than 17,000 visitors and 1,465 exhibitors.

Vinexpo Hong Kong has opened with a bang

The show, taking place until Thursday 31 May, was formally opened by outgoing Vinexpo CEO Guillaume Deglise and guests of honour: Edward Yau, secretary for commerce and economic development, Hong Kong SAR; Joe Wong, commissioner for tourism, Hong Kong SAR; and Peter Lam Kin-Ngok, GBS chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board; as well as Patrick Seguin, president of Vinexpo’s executive board and chairman of the Bordeaux-Gironde Chamber of Commerce Vinexpo.

To celebrate Australia as this year’s ‘Country of Honour’, Australian government senator Anne Ruston, assistant minister for agriculture and water resources, also attended the grand opening.

The three-day show will feature masterclasses, new products and networking opportunities for importers, distributors, producers, sommeliers and merchants from around the world.

In addition, The Drinks Business Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Bartenders Association will host The Spirits Bar, a one-stop cocktail shop boasting first-class training sessions and flairing performances.

The show also marks Deglise’s last – the executive announced earlier this year that he will leave the company to embark on new career projects.

For those attending Vinexpo Hong Kong, The Spirits Business has compiled a list of unmissable events and brand stands dedicated to spirits.
