Sullivans Cove to auction whisky for charity

Tasmanian distillery Sullivans Cove will auction one of the last remaining bottles of its 16-year-old American Oak Single Cask #HH0351 whisky, with all proceeds going to charity.

Sullivans Cove American Oak Single Cask #HH0351 will be auctioned on Christie’s for charity

The Australian distillery has partnered with auction house Christie’s for the sale, and the money will be used to help The Alannah & Madeline Foundation – an Australian charity that works to keep children safe from all forms of violence.

The charity was established in 1997 in memory Alannah and Madeline Mikac who, along with 32 others, were killed in a mass shooting at Port Arthur, Tasmania.

Sullivans Cove American Oak Single Cask #HH0351 was distilled in June 2000 and bottled in January 2017 after 16 years and five months of ageing in a 200-litre American oak ex-Bourbon barrel. Only 136 bottles were created.

Its sale will include a handmade Tasmanian blackwood display box and a framed official certificate from the 2018 World Whiskies Awards.

Adam Sable, managing director, Sullivans Cove, said: “There’s been significant interest from collectors around the world looking to acquire a bottle from the award-winning cask, so we’re hoping this can have a big impact.”

The auction will take place in London and online on 7 June. Further details can be found at christies.com.
