Highland Park launches The Light
Highland Park has released a special edition 17-year-old single malt inspired by the spring and summer months on Orkney, called The Light.
Highland Park The Light pays homage to the brand’s Viking heritage with a serpent dragon on the bottle
The new expression follows the launch of The Dark last year, which represented the autumn and winter months.
The Light has been aged in American oak casks and delivers “sweet” flavours of nutmeg and vanilla, along with “distinctive heather peat” notes, which Highland Park is known for.
Bottled at 52.9% abv, the expression “celebrates a time to emerge from winter hibernation, ready to embrace the warm, bright days of summer”.
“In both The Light and The Dark, we share the story of the noble Viking warriors who are our ancestors, of our contrasting island seasons and of the intense balance of our whisky,” said Jason Craig, brand director, Highland Park.
“Our award-winning whiskies deliver flavours of smoky sweetness that’s the product of our climate and our craftsmanship – our own continuous cycle.”
The Light is presented in a pale green glass bottle, with the serpent dragon on the front paying homage to Orkney’s Viking roots.
Limited to 28,000 bottles, Highland Park The Light is available from The Whisky Exchange at an RRP of £190 (US$255).
