Diageo unveils Fèis Ìle special edition whiskies

Diageo has bottled special edition single malts from Islay-based distilleries Lagavulin and Caol Ila for Fèis Ìle 2018, which will take place over the next week.

An 18-year-old Lagavulin will be available for whisky fans to buy at Fèis Ìle

The Lagavulin bottling is an 18-year-old single malt aged in refill and rejuvenated American oak hogsheads and ex-Bodega European oak butts. With a cask strength of 53.9%, 6,000 bottles will be available at an RRP of £130 (US$170).

The Caol Ila expression is a 10-year-old whisky matured in refill American oak hogsheads and rejuvenated European oak butts. The single malt, bottled at 58.2% abv, is priced at £100 (US$130) and is limited to 2,496 bottles.

Both editions will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis from the respective distilleries during Fèis Ìle – the Islay festival of music and malt, taking place from 25 May-2 June.

“The Fèis festival is such an exciting time for Islay and we always look forward to inviting people into Lagavulin and Caol Ila,” said Colin Gordon, Lagavulin Distillery manager. “It’s great seeing new faces and familiar faces who return year after year.”
