The Islay distillery will re-introduce Port Charlotte 10-year-old in a redesigned bottle this summer, making it the first permanent age-stated whisky from the brand, having previously been available in limited quantities.

Bottled at 50% abv, Port Charlotte 10 will replace the existing multi-vintage Port Charlotte Scottish Barley and will be available in 700ml/750ml bottles in domestic markets, plus a one-litre format in travel retail.

A 2011 vintage Port Charlotte will also be released, created from liquid distilled from the harvests of three Islay farms: Raymond Fletcher at Dunlossit, Raymond Stewart at Sunderland and Neil McLellan at Kilchiaran.

The final two whiskies set to launch this autumn will be single cask, cask strength expressions. Port Charlotte MRC:01 will be available in domestic markets and is made from Scottish barley harvested in 2010, matured in oak casks from the Bordeaux left bank.

Meanwhile Port Charlotte MC:01 will be a 2009 vintage matured in Marsala casks, exclusive to travel retail in 700ml and one-litre formats.

“We are committed to source 100% of our barley from Scotland, 33% of which is now grown on Islay.

“We have reintroduced ancient varietals and experimented with regionality for texture and flavour,” said Douglas Taylor, Bruichladdich Distillery CEO. “All our whiskies are conceived, distilled, matured and bottled on Islay, unchill-filtered and colouring free, using Islay spring water.

“We are committed to our community. We aim to be Islay-centric in everything we do and care about the positive economic and social impact our business has on the island.

“Over time we have become the biggest private employer on Islay, made possible because we mature and bottle all our whiskies here.

“This vision has resulted in direct employment for 76 people at the distillery, with countless more involved through partnerships.”
