Big Peat unveils Fèis Ìle 2018 whisky

Douglas Laing has revealed the 2018 iteration of its Big Peat Fèis Ìle limited-edition whisky, which fans will be able to customise with stickers.

BIg Peat Fèis Ìle comes complete with stickers to create your own bottle design

Only 3,000 bottles of Big Peat Fèis Ìle 2018 will be launched this month via specialist whisky retailers around the world and directly from the Islay festival, which will take place from 25 May to 2 June.

The Islay single malt Scotch whisky is bottled at 48% abv, without chill filtration or caramel colouring. It has an RRP of £49.99 (US$68).

Each carton will come complete with a set of stickers inspired by Islay, whisky and the Big Peat brand.

Fans are then encouraged to upload their designs to social media using the hashtag #MyBigPeat for the chance to win a ‘taste of Islay’ hamper. The competition will close on 1 September 2018.

Cara Laing, director of whisky and third generation of the family-owned business, said: “We regard Big Peat as a feisty gentleman of great character and depth, and whilst his particularly peated Islay malt is revered and merits the utmost respect, he (and we) don’t take ourselves too seriously.

“The latest limited edition demonstrates Douglas Laing and Big Peat’s flair for innovation and fun as we encourage whisky drinkers around the world to enjoy a taste of Islay and its legendary Feis Ile while they let their creative juices flow as they design their own bottle of Big Peat.”

Last year, fans of Big Peat were invited to upload a selfie mirroring Big Peat’s memorable grimace. The 300-plus photos were then printed on the 2017 Big Peat Fèis Ìle carton.
