The Whisky Exchange to open second London site

Award-winning retailer The Whisky Exchange will open its second London store next month, offering more than 2,500 spirits, wines and beers.

The new premises will be situated in Great Portland Street, nestled in the bustling Fitzrovia region of London. The existing Whisky Exchange shop is located in Covent Garden.

Rajbir Singh, who co-founded The Whisky Exchange in 1999 with his brother, Sukhinder Singh, said: “A well-connected central London location was crucial to appeal to a wide radius of commuters and residents.

“Recent regeneration of the Great Portland Street area has encouraged an influx of retail and hospitality venues as well as offices, and the immediate vicinity is something of a community.

“Expanding our bricks and mortar operation allows us to engage with our customers on a more personal level.”

With 3,240 square feet of retail space to play with, the new store will feature wines and Champagne, gin, other spirits and beer on the ground floor.

Head to the lower ground floor, and guests will find a “floor to ceiling” whisky offering, gifting opportunities and a private tasting “snug” for up to six people. Glassware, hip flasks, decanters, barware and books will also be available to purchase.

Dawn Davies MW, head of buying for The Whisky Exchange, said: “British products will be given great attention, especially in the booming gin category, and we’ll be significantly increasing our offering of wines, Champagnes and beers compared to our Covent Garden store.

“On top of our treasure trove of whiskies from Scotland, Ireland, the USA and Japan, we will be offering more world whiskies and independent bottlings.

“We are also very proud of what we believe will be the best range of Cognacs, Armagnacs and Calvados in London. Our goal is to be the perfect neighbourhood wine and sprits shop for everyone who lives, works and visits this vibrant area.”
