Mr Black expands range with Coffee Amaro
Australian cold brew coffee liqueur brand Mr Black has added a new permanent expression to its portfolio, called Mr Black Coffee Amaro.
Mr Black Coffee Amaro is a blend of cold press coffee and 14 botanicals
The new product is a “modern take on the traditional Italian bitter liqueur” and is made from cold brew coffee and 14 distilled and macerated botanicals – including citrus from the distillery’s garden in New South Wales.
Head distiller Philip Moore said: “Amaro is essentially a botanical drink, similar to a gin or absinth, so blending that idea with the specialty coffee craftsmanship of Mr Black was something I really enjoyed developing.”
Mr Black Coffee Amaro is described as having a flavour of “bitter gentian, orange, grapefruit and toasted coffee”, with a long bitter finish.
Tom Baker, co-founder of Mr Black, said: “Our Coffee Amaro is the extension of my love and worship of coffee and Philip’s 30-year botanical obsession.”
The new expression from the Australian small-batch producer, which was founded in 2012 by Moore and Baker, is bottled at 28.5% abv and will be available in the UK on-trade through Speciality Drinks from 30 April.
