As drinkers awake from a chocolate induced Easter coma to find March long gone, now seems like an excellent time to take stock of the hottest new bars to open their doors around the world.

From a secret cocktail lounge nestled above an Indian restaurant to a New York bar offering breathtaking views of the Big Apple, here are our picks of the hottest new bars to open in March.

Flying Dutchmen Cocktails, Amsterdam

Leading bartenders Tess Posthumus and Timo Janse have opened their first cocktail bar, Flying Dutchman Cocktails.

The bar opened its doors inside Dutch national monument, Odeon, in the heart of The Netherland’s capital city.

Flying Dutchmen Cocktails hopes to use everything at its disposal to teach Dutch drinkers about where their drinks come from – including The Netherland’s largest back bar, which boasts more than 500 spirits.

Swingers West End, London

The Institute of Competitive Socialising opened its latest London venue, Swingers West End, in March.

The newest bar and mini golf course from The Institute boasts two courses, one culminating at a helter skelter hole and the other at a ferris wheel.

The new venue also houses a bandstand bar, three cocktail bars and a number of street food vendors.

Ophelia, New York

Housed in New York’s Art Deco-style Beekman Tower, Ophelia offers breathtaking views of the Big Apple from 26 floors up.

The new bar is serving up a number of small plates and bar snacks to accompany its killer cocktail menu.

Highlights on the menu include Bullet Proof, made from Bulleit Rye, St-Germain, turmeric, chilli, lemon, egg white and botanical bitters; and White Lightening, made from Manhattan Moonshine Whiskey, Cointreau, wormwood bitters and rambutan.

Yosma, London

Istanbul-inspired restaurant Yosma has opened a new cocktail bar at its Marylebone venue.

The new space, adjacent to the restaurant, offers a host of innovative cocktails and Turkish-inspired bar snacks.

The bar’s design is influenced by vintage Turkish cinema and artwork from graphic designer, Emrah Yücel and special commissions from artist Sedat Girgin.

Three Underneath, London

The second bar from Venning brothers Max and Noel, Bar Three launched in the basement of London restaurant Blixen. The new venue follows the launch of the duo’s acclaimed Dalston bar Three Sheets.

This new underground venue features a fuss-free design, which includes an arched ceiling and bare brickwork.

In keeping with its name, the menu is split into threes. Cocktails are presented across three sections, with three drinks in each, these have been categorised by flavour rather than spirit; light, medium, or full-bodied.

Dear Lilly, Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s newest lounge bar is located on the level four podium at the International Finance Centre and features an interior designed by Ashley Sutton.

The venue aims to capture the vistas of the Victorian harbour, drawing on inspiration from hole-in-the-wall florists and Parisian cafe culture.

George’s Bar, London

Chef Marcus Wareing has opened his newest venue at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London, called George’s Bar.

Following a complete redesign of the bar at The Gilbert Scott restaurant, Wareing launched George’s Bar as a tribute to the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel’s original architect, Sir George Gilbert Scott.

George’s Bar sees the restaurateur apply his culinary experience to drinks-making, and hopes to showcase the team’s understanding of ingredients and flavours.

Vijay’s Bar and Lounge, London

Vijay’s Bar & Lounge has opened its doors in London’s Soho offering a diverse menu of innovative cocktails and Indian-style bar snacks.

Tucked away above the Lokhandwala Indian restaurant, Vijay’s boasts atmospheric dark walls, rich fabrics and opulent detailing.

The drinks menu comprises an extensive list of wines and premium spirits, along with a cocktail menu that uses floral syrups and Indian spices extensively.
