ELLC debuts peated barrel-aged gin

East London Liquor Company (ELLC) has released 311 bottles of a barrel-aged gin, which has been matured in an ex-peated whisky barrel.

ELLC has released a new barrel-aged gin, aged in an ex-peated whisky barrel for 47 days

Bottled at 47% abv, the new expression has been aged for 47 weeks and has been produced under the company’s Barrel-Aged Gin Programme.

Each release in the initiative uses ELLC’s signature London Dry Gin as a base before it is aged in a range of casks.

On the nose, it is described as having notes of rosemary and smoked caramelised oranges. On the palate it is “creamy and balanced” with citrus notes followed by a pepperiness from the spices and finishing with “earthy smokiness”.

The gin is recommended served with tonic and a slice of fresh ginger or in a Gin-A-Cillin cocktail, made with ELLC Barrel-Aged Gin, lemon juice, honey and fresh ginger juice.

Throughout the year, ELLC will continue to release various iterations of barrel-aged gin.

Speaking to The Spirits Business, ELLC announced plans to launch its inaugural whiskies and brandy in the next year.
