Buffalo Trace unveils final EH Taylor Four Grain Bourbon

Buffalo Trace Distillery is to release the final edition of its EH Taylor Jr Four Grain Bourbon, which was named ‘world’s best whisky’ by Jim Murray in 2017.

EH Taylor Jr Four Grain Bourbon was named ‘whisky of the year’ in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2018

The second and final release of the whiskey follows last year’s launch of Four Grain Bourbon, which is made from a recipe that uses corn, rye, wheat and malted barley.

EH Taylor Jr Four Grain Bourbon was distilled in 2005 using the four grains E H Taylor would have had access to when he set up the Buffalo Trace distillery in the late 1800s.

Kris Comstock, senior marketing director at Buffalo Trace, said: “We were so thrilled when Jim Murray named the first batch of Four Grain the best whiskey in the world. With this second batch, hopefully more people will get to taste this amazing whiskey.”

Four Grain Bourbon Whiskey has been described as having “a nose reminiscent of a chocolate roast malt with a flash of spice”, this is followed by flavours of “Manuka honey and liquorice”.

E H Taylor Jr Four Gain is a small batch, bottled-in-bond Bourbon, which has aged for 13 years and is bottled at 100 proof (50% abv).

The expression has a suggested retail price of US$69.99 per 750ml bottle and will be available in limited quantities in spring.

Four Grain Bourbon whiskey is part of the Colonel E H Taylor Jr collection, which was launched in 2011 and includes a Straight Rye Whiskey expression, Old Fashioned Sour Mash Bourbon and Warehouse C Tornado Surviving Bourbon.
