London creative space Library has launched a list of literary-inspired cocktails to celebrate London’s Big Read.

Six cocktails have been created, inspired by works from Goldie, David Olusoga and June Sarpong.

The drinks include the Self Made, which combines Bimber London Dry Gin with lemon juice, orange preserve and egg white; and the Diversify, which mixes Bimber London Vodka with lemon juice, Angostura bitters and egg white.

Tequila brand Olmeca celebrated its 50th anniversary this week.

The Los Altos-based Tequila maker has been producing añejo, reposado and blanco Tequila since 1967 and marked its 50th anniversary with a ‘Noche Colosal’ at its distillery.

Luxury vodka brand Grey Goose helped launch a new online content channel, called Caffeine Culture.

The platform hopes to connect cocktail and coffee lovers across Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to transfer skills and network with other professionals.

London venue Madison has launched its MadLab sessions, which promises to transform drinks fans into molecular mixologists.

Cocktail lovers can refine their bartending skills and master new techniques, such as infusing spirits, foaming drinks and carbonating cocktails.

Priced at £30 per person, guests will create molecular twists on three Absolut Elyx vodka-based cocktails of their choice with time to enjoy their finished creations.

Pulitzer’s Bar in Amsterdam has unveiled its International Women’s Day cocktail.

Inspired by the colour purple, the official colour of International Women’s Day, the new creation combines Tequila with lavender, lime, agave and egg white, and will be offered to any female guests visiting the Dutch bar.

This year’s International Women’s Day aims to promote gender parity and inclusivity.

Jameson Irish whiskey this week launched its latest advertising campaign, entitled ‘Taste, That’s Why’.

The campaign launches across television, digital and social media in America this month and will roll out to other countries in the coming months.

As snow swept across the UK this week, distillery staff endured the storms to keep production moving.

In Fife, Kingsbarns Distillery manager Peter Holroyd resorted to sleeping overnight in the Lowland distillery.

While the shop and visitors centre remained closed at the distillery, Holroyd remained on site to keep the distillery’s whisky production on track.

Diageo has launched a female-inspired iteration of Johnnie Walker Black Label as a “symbol of the brand’s commitment to progress”.

However, the new release has proved controversial amongst whisky fans and the public, with Forbes branding the release “a risky attempt to appeal to women”.

Johnnie Walker Black Label The Jane Walker Edition will be available across the US from March and Diageo has pledged to donate US$1 from the sale of each bottle of Jane Walker to organisations championing women’s causes.  .

Bimber Distillery has teamed up with Dry Martini to launch its 2018 Martini Challenge.

The new cocktail competition offers contestants the chance to show their skills by creating a signature Martini.

Bartenders must team up with another person from their workplace to produce a trailblazing twist on the classic Martini, with an accompanying side dish.

Recipes must be submitted online before midnight on March 9.

The Glassology by Libbey design contest named its six finalists this week.

Kenji Jesse, Yochen Verbeek, Thomas Ryan, Mihails Mikovskis, Lews Parry, Pedro Ribeiro will all travel to Amsterdam to compete in the grand final in May.

Bartenders around the world have gone head to head to create the next piece of iconic glassware, and the winning design will be put into production by Portuguese manufacturer Libbey.

SB went along to the grand opening of London-based gin brand Hayman’s new distillery this week.

The new site in Balham boasts three copper pot stills, a laboratory, bar and visitors area, where the gin brand hopes to host tasting session and gin workshops.

The gin brand has returned production to London from its base in Essex, and the new site is just four miles from where the company started 150 years ago.
