P(our) Symposium reveals speakers for 2018

The P(our) Symposium, a bartender collective that explores issues in the drinks industry, has unveiled the speakers set to take to the stage at its third annual event in June.

P(our) Symposium will take place on 3 June in Paris

The third P(our) Symposium will take place on 3 June at new venue Le Palais de Tokyo in Paris, in collaboration with the Cocktails & Spirits Show.

Speakers at this year’s event will include Charles Spence, professor of experimental psychology at Oxford University, known for his research into multisensory experiences and understanding the human mind; author and spirits commentator Dave Broom; Shelby Williams, ballerina and creator of a satirical Instagram character who reminds dancers that being imperfect isn’t worth getting upset over; and Stacey Givens, chef and founder of The Side Yard Farm & Kitchen.

This year’s speakers were chosen by the P(our) Symposium committee. The show was founded in 2016 by Alex Kratena, Simone Caporale, Ryan Chetiyawardana, Jim Meehan, Joerg Meyer, Xavier Padovani and Monica Berg.

Attendance this year is expected to increase by 30%, as guests flock to enjoy talks, performances, collaborations and discussions based on the topic of ‘perfection’.

Berg, co-founder, said: “We have all felt the pressure of perfection, and although a great motivator, it’s time that we also recognise its more destructive side.

“The concept of perfection can often be an illusion, and we seek to demystify this through the upcoming symposium.”
