Trade body The Gin Guild has announced the seminars and speakers for its fifth annual Ginposium, held in London this June.

The one-day event, which takes place on 7 June at RSA House, features representatives from the spirits industry sharing their knowledge on topics surrounding gin.

Twelve speakers have already confirmed attendance, including Joanne Moore, G& J Distillers; Olivier Ward, Gin Foundry; James Firth, Forager for Fishers Gin; Professor Katherine Smart, Surrey Copper Distillery Limited; David T Smith, from Summerfruit Cup; Ben Ellefsen, Atom Brands; Simon Ford, Ford’s Gin; and Sam Carter and Dr Anne Brock, Bombay Sapphire.

The seminar list includes a masterclass on ‘Local Flavour’ by Dr Ulrich Dyer from Woodlab Distillery, a ‘Grain to Glass’ seminar by Olivier Ward and a presentation on gin in the US.

Other topics include a focus on base spirits, the dangers of using locally-foraged botanicals, using science to aid recipe development, starting a distillery, and a panel discussion on gin categories and aids to consumer understanding.

Nicholas Cook, director general of The Gin Guild, said: “Due to the Ginposium’s growing popularity, we moved to a bigger venue last year and still sold out. With gin sales still growing both in the UK and worldwide, the excitement and interest in gin shows no sign of slowing.

“New brands and new distilleries are thriving alongside the continuing growth and commitment to excellence among the established brands.”

Ginposium tickets are priced at £124 plus VAT for Gin Guild members and £185 plus VAT for non-members.
