Durham Distillery unveils whisky package deals

Durham Distillery has unveiled six package deals to give whisky fans the chance to be among the first to own a bottle, or cask, of the firm’s inaugural releases.

Durham Distillery has named its packages after famous bridges in the city

The package options have been named after the UK city’s famous bridges, including Prebends and Elvet.

The packages start from a £10 (US$14) ‘investment certificate’ giving the holder 25% off distillery tours and 10% off in the distillery shop, and run up to the Privately Owned Cask package, which will see the first 100 casks released for private ownership. Ex-Bourbon casks start at £2,750 (US$3,880), while ex-Sherry casks are priced at £3,250 (US$4,585).

All packages will also come with the investment certificate, which will be valid for one year from the opening day of the new distillery.

Jessica Tomlinson, head distiller, said: “We have been working hard to get our package offering just right with options to suit all audiences, from a whisky connoisseur who can’t wait to sample one of the first bottles, to venues with a desire to invest in a higher volume to stock behind the bar. We want these to remain exclusive so there is limited availability.”

Furthermore, to celebrate its relocation to a new, bigger distillery premises later this year, 1,000 bottles of a limited-edition version of Durham Gin will be launched in November at an RRP of £45 (US$63).

Jon Chadwick, owner of Durham Distillery, said: “It’s all go for Durham Distillery this year, which will see us invest in a visitor attraction for the city in the form of our relocation, and bring a dynamic new product to the drinks market.

“These are certainly ambitious plans, however we have a fantastic team and have been overwhelmed by the interest already shown by consumers.”

Durham Distillery announced plans to start producing its own whisky in January this year.
