Belvedere and Janelle Monáe aim to inspire creativity
Vodka brand Belvedere has teamed up with musician and actress Janelle Monáe on a two-year partnership that aims to inspire the next generation of creators.
The collaboration between Janelle Monáe (second left) and Belvedere launched with the help of film makers Janicza Bravo (far left), Kirsten Lepore (second right) and Lacey Duke (far right)
Launched at last night’s Oscars ceremony, the partnership hopes to bring to life powerful voices from the world of film, music and the arts.
The collaboration between the Polish vodka brand and Monáe came about as a result of a “shared vision to create beauty in the world”, the Hidden Figures star said.
Monáe continued: “I’m thrilled to be partnering with the brand on some very exciting initiatives, shining a light on the untold stories and inspiring voices of this talented generation.”
The collaboration launched with the brand’s latest short film, called A Beautiful Future, which features three women film makers – Janicza Bravo, Lacey Duke and Kirsten Lepore.
Each film maker will direct and produce a short film, inspired by the question: what does a beautiful future look like to you?
These short films will be released quarterly, highlighting a new voice in film and celebrating the vision of its creator.
Rodney Williams, president of Belvedere Vodka, said: “This collaboration is a convergence of our shared beliefs: optimism and the power of the ‘we’ not ‘me’ to bridge divides and make the world a more beautiful place.”
Last year, Belvedere Vodka partnered with American singer-songwriter Jhené Aiko for an “experiential” campaign that aimed to inspire music fans to discover new artists.
