Atom Brands welcomes new recruits
By Melita KielyThat Boutique-y Whisky Company owner Atom Brands has expanded its team with the appointment of Sam Simmons as head of whisky and Lora Hemy as head of distillation.
Sam Simmons (left) and Lora Hemy (right) are the newest members of the Atom Brands teamSimmons was previously at William Grant & Sons where he worked as global ambassador for The Balvenie – a position he had held since 2010.
A Keeper of the Quaich, he has also held positions at The Scotch Malt Whisky Society and The Whisky Exchange, and founded the Dr Whisky blog.
Hemy was appointed as head of distillation in late 2017, and brings experience as head distiller and consultant at start-up establishments, including Welsh distillery Aber Falls.
Before joining Atom Brands, Hemy worked for Halewood Wines and Spirits where she launched the firm’s distilling operations. She has also worked for Whyte & Mackay’s Dalmore distillery.
