Spirit of Speyside boasts record ticket sales

The annual Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival has set a new sales record after 116 events sold out within the first 24 hours of tickets being released.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2018 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival

A total of 4,982 tickets were snapped up within the first 24 hours, valued at £154,000 (US$214,464) – that’s 797 tickets more than the previous year, and £32,362 (US$45,068) more in value.

James Campbell, festival chairman, said: “The level of interest has astounded us; we did wonder if we could match the success of last year’s sales, but here we are again having surpassed it.

“Whisky lovers from all around the world have shown a real thirst for the 2018 offering, and in line with previous years the exclusive distillery tours have sold out first.”

The 2018 whisky festival is set to take place from 3-7 May and will offer whisky enthusiasts 520 events to choose from, including tastings, a ceilidh on a train, whisky caching – which launched for the first time last year – craft events, quizzes and valuations.

The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2018 is being supported by Event Scotland, which is part of Visit Scotland’s events directorate.
